one year ago.

it's been one year.

most look at april 1st as the day they can play their best jokes on their friends.

for me, it means something else.

march 31st, 2009, my stepdad and my mom

surprised us with a knock on our front door.

they had just come from jack's doctor's office

and shocked me with huge news:

jack was going in for triple bypass surgery in the a.m.

i knew jack had had some chest pains before christmas,

but i never thought of heart surgery.

he ended up have a quadruple bypass

on april 1st, 2009.

there were many times i wasn't sure as

to how long he would be with us,

especially that first night.

in the last year, he's gone through 2 surgeries,

gone home with tubes in his lungs,

rehab after rehab,

and suffered from all kinds of

confusion and memory issues.

when you can't remember your kid's name,

it's not good.

right now he's battling to be able to preach

again at the church he ministers at.

but he's alive.

so, this year we rejoice with jack,

thankful to share another year with him

and pray for many more.
