we traveled through falling snow and icy roads for 2 hours of our trip. idaho and montana did not get the memo that it's late may and that there should be sun and no snow at that time!

day 5: cheney, washington
my sister carrie and her family moved to cheney in october and we were the first family to be able to make it out for a visit.
grace(that's carrie grace, but i call her grace all of the time) just had her 2nd little boy a week before our visit. so great to be able to see him so little and take photos for the waiting family back in kansas.
my mom had sent a lot of clothes for both boys and blocks for aj's birthday, so he's modeling in this photo below. :)
after introducing my sister and her husband to jack in the box for lunch, we visited cheney's fishing lake. it was memorial day, so it was pretty busy with local fisherman/kids at the park/water areas. so we didn't stay too long. here are some of the photos of the kids there, though.
after our time at the lake, we went on a "10 mile walk up mountainous hills"(as i refer to it) with my brother-in-law's parents. ugh. seriously, i don't see how anyone makes it up those hills in the snow.
we walked up to the football field first. eastern washington university football team took home the big sky conference title in 2010. the pride is written all over the town. they have the only red turfed field, so that was of course a big conversation piece.
we walked through the campus on the way back down the hills.

day 6: cheney, wa to coupeville, wa...7 hour trip.
snoqualmie pass had some beautiful views...
until it started raining and the fog took over.

i can finally say i've been there, but i really don't want to go visit seattle again. again with the mountainous hills. in downtown. that place was crazy.

all they wanted to do was stay on the beach and throw rocks in the water. for hours! haha.
i was really lucky when my google search led me to this house. we had a blast in it.
the house was a cute 2 bedroom, 1 bath house. simple, but functional and perfect for our 3 night stay there.

we were also able to see a harbor porpoise right off of our beach. he came in during the high tide to find some yummy dinner. i spotted him from inside the house and we all went running out to see him. we watched him for a while and then went into oak harbor(25 mins away) to do grocery shopping. he was still there when we got home. :) he was out there for a few hours. such a cool experience for all of us and great way to end the day!
