i've been missing my sailor lately and rightly so.
things have been chaotic with trying to go on vacation
and then having to cancel our trip the day before we left.
on top of that, the little girl had to
go visit the immediate care last night(tummy issues).
i've been trying to figure out when we can go out
to see him while he's still stateside,
but schedules just won't allow it.
while i'm use to him being gone, i still wish he was home.
i think my way of coping is to make posters.
he's gonna come home to all of these framed posters on the wall and think "what the heck?"
haha.
we may need a bigger house with more wall room
for the next time he leaves. :)
today i learned how to use textures in photoshop.
all by myself.
granted, there are tutorials and videos all over youtube
that i could use,
but i just don't want to.
i've been messing around with layers a lot,
and just had the thought that maybe this was
how textures worked,
so i kinda stumbled onto it.
i also looked at the photos on 'the vintage lemon' post
about textures.
i found a blog via pinterest with states and the u.s.
photo on it.
love the vintage lemon for putting those together!
you can download your own state for free here.
a free font that i've had for a while called
ARB 85 poster script jan-39, as well as the font
us navy(for the boat).
they're freebies from dafont.
for some, there may be too much texture to this.
others may find the original print of the U.S. to be
perfect.
i'm a vintage girl, so i like to age things a bit.
if i never learned how to do textures, though,
i would have left it how 'the vintage lemon' made it.
loved her colors..they were exactly what i'm
putting in my bedroom right now.
thank you to the creative people that are willing to share their work. i will always be grateful to you for giving me
ways to be creative without breaking my bank account.
