Pajama Morning

Pajama morning consisted of the kids playing with their kitchen set, Aiden brushing his hair and Emily "reading" books to Aiden.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere, apparently. :)

Family Portraits by Emily Whyte

Emily drew some family portraits for me tonight. This is our family. If you can't read it, I am at the bottom left, the next bigger head at the right is Aiden, next to it is Emily and then Justin.

This is my mom and my stepdad...the scribbles below their mouths are their clothes. :)

This work of art is the whole Whyte clan...except for Josh. I asked Emily where Uncle Josh was. She said, "he's in bed, sleeping." We were over on Sunday and he had to go to bed early for work the next day. She did however draw a couch(upper left corner), a shark(green colored in spot) and a fish(in the middle of the page).

Justin has a big weekend coming up: his 10 year high school reunion. He is starting to sound excited about it. We will be going to a football game at Maize on Friday, out afterwards to a local pub(I'm so excited...that was sarcastic!), and then dinner on Saturday night in Old Town. Tari is watching the kids both nights, so it will be nice to be kid free two nights in a row!! Tari just got married this weekend, so it's my job to bring her back down from the honeymoon high. :)

AND we just found out that Justin's big limo client from Florida will be in Sept 19-20, instead of Oct 2-4. September 20th is our 5 year anniversary. :) Of course Justin would have to work that day!!

Cornhuskers...in a K-State House (and other stories)

Okay, we've been at a bit of a standstill, picture wise. My wonderful FREE digital camera has a battery that is ready to die! I've had to take pictures while it is plugged into the charger. Even then, it's died after 2 shots. We've managed to get some taken, despite it.

The bathroom pictures are of our half bath, one of the projects that is actually DONE!! The color is eggplant and the vanity is chocolate brown. It was my color choice, of course, but it's Justin's bathroom. Mine still doesn't have a mirror up on the wall. :)

Last weekend we went to the Farmer's Market. We had never been, even though it's just down the street from the main intersection that we live by. Emily got to see Troubles the Clown(my stepdad made his clown shoes for him, many years ago). He made Emily a balloon dog. She was very excited about the clown all day. We see him from time to time at the Godfather's Pizza, as we drive by and wave.

The cornhuskers (corn was at Wal-mart, not the Farmer's Market, along with the firemen collecting money for MDA) had never seen corn in a husk before. Emily got to husk it all by herself. Aiden wanted to help too, so he bit the bad corn off the end of mine that I had just husked...gross!!

My sister, Mary Anne, was in town last weekend, as well. We did a girl's night on Friday. We realized how lame we were...we went to Hancock's Fabric, the new Dillon's Marketplace(our grocery store has furniture and such now) and Panera Bread(which wasn't lame). We had fun, anyway! There were no kids or husbands. AHHH! While she was in town, she brought over her daughter's old Carebear costume for Emily. That thing was heavy duty, but Emily wanted to keep it on. She will definitely be nice and warm for Halloween this year!!

Emily had her first day of Kids Day Inn today. She has been so excited about seeing Ms. Becky and Ms. Ross(also a Becky, so they use her last name!)...she even woke up early yesterday exclaiming how she was going to see " Becky and Ross and Isabella and Emma..." today!! I had to say, go back to sleep. It's not til tomorrow!! :) Needless to say, the wait was worth it. She had a fabulous time with her friends Emma and Isabella, and even had brand new kids there to play with, as well. It has been really nice here the last two days. It was a high of about 64 degrees yesterday. It was only 59 degrees when we left for school this morning. Emily and Aiden even got to sport their new fall gear today. :) I am very ready for fall!!!

Officer in Trouble

I know that I have posted a blog of the pictures from Father's Day, but here is a reminder, before I start my story. This is the only time she has ever been allowed to touch any part of Justin's police gear, simply because it was for a picture and it wasn't hooked on to the actual radio.

Last night, Justin was suppose to have been off at 8 p.m. He actually made it home after 10 p.m., due to a DUI accident that he was working. Every night when he comes home, he takes off his duty belt, puts it up high in the closet, and puts his radio away behind his pillow. Our bed is very high up, so the radio isn't in a place that Emily could actually reach up and get it. HA! That's what we thought!

Justin and I were downstairs talking about his classes, and we heard running upstairs. It was 11 p.m. and we had already put Emily to bed. So, Justin ran up to check to see what was going on. His phone was ringing and his radio was blaring, officers talking about where we lived. Justin answered his phone, and it was his Lt. calling to say get on your radio, dispatch has been trying to get ahold of you! Emily had climbed on his nightstand, got his radio out from far back behind his 3 pillows, turned on the radio, raised the volume, and hit the panic button 8 times!!! One of the officers told Justin that they were on the verge of heading out to our house, lights and sirens. I sent a text to one of my friends with this story and he said,"You have the best stories." I swear, I don't make this stuff up! :)

Short Stories

Last week we went to dinner with Papa, Granny and Uncle Josh at Two Brothers BBQ. We hadn't gotten to do anything with them for a while, so it was nice to have a dinner party! :) After dinner, we stopped by my old roomies house and saw her husband and son, Mason. Lisa was out with some friends from work, so we didn't get to see her til we were about ready to leave. Aiden and Mason were little twins! Mason was suppose to be 3 months older than Aiden, but he was born a month early. Aiden's passed him in the clothes sizes, but Mason is catching up!! The next day, Emily fell asleep on the couch after lunch. She refuses to take naps now, so this was a well needed one! She had a ton of mosquito bites on her from being outside with Mason the night before! I have a video of Aiden singing his first song. He absolutely loves The Wiggles. Emily never watched it til now, so her favorite songs were always Sesame Street. One song goes, "quack, quack, quack. Cockadoodledoo!" He walks around singing, "quack, quack, quack, quack". It's really cute. I haven't been able to get a very good video of it yet, so I will get after it! Emily and I wanted to surprise daddy when he came home late on Friday night, by welcoming him home at the back door. Daddy, however, didn't know she was there, and opened the door tearing the skin off the tip of her big toe. We thought that she had just bumped her head at first, and didn't see the bloody foot til after I sat her on the countertop. Poor kid. She was telling Mike( the youth minister) all about it this morning at church...and her teacher, and another one of our friends... :) She is really going crazy with talking and comforts Aiden when he cries, just like a mom does. She even called him pumpkin the other day and was wiping his tears off of his face. The moment almost made up for screaming half of the day. :)

Ready to Move

There have been a lot of things going on at our house. Lately, we have been discussing the dreaded topic of selling our house!! Justin and I are VERY ready to move... the house is another story. We live on a busy street(there's an elementary school at the end of the block), so cars on constantly zooming around, despite the patrol car sitting in our driveway. We like the area we live in, but hate Wichita Public Schools, and our neighbor who drives race cars..he had his loud car running for 25 minutes yesterday as I was trying to get Emily to take a nap. Justin has already proposed the idea us of moving to Bakersfield, CA. I, of course, said NO. Sorry Uncle Mark!!! We have been looking at either building(and trying to sort out all of the hidden costs) or moving into a pre-existing house, both in the Maize and Valley Center areas. We have visited one model, twice, that we absolutely love, but the base price is at the top of our price range(this is the model home we really liked). Emily and Aiden loved exploring through it and running in the basement. Little Emily was in awe at the size of the basement and now calls it "the BIG BIG house"! Please keep us in your prayers as we sort through the house projects, get Justin through 3 classes this Fall at Butler, and try to save for a new home. It's extremely hard to not try to be in control of this situation, and we want to move to the home/area that God wants us to be in. I LOVE to look at realty, so for me to not look at homes online, is a major struggle! :)

A (VERY HOT) Day at the Zoo

Sunday, we skipped church(I know, we're bad) and had some family time at the zoo! However, it was the hottest day ever ( and we were only there 9-11 a.m.), so I was really missing the air conditioned church!! One of the local airplane plants is going on strike this week, so we knew that he would be busy with that!!!!! National Night Out is this Tuesday, so to help promote that, they had a half price day at the zoo! They had police officers and firemen there, as well. Emily got to check out the truck and we even ran into daddy's friends!

The kids loved the barn and petting zoo area. Emily was not fond of the smell. She told Justin it was "stanky"! :)
