The Big 28

Yesterday the kids and I took a trip up to my mom's house to spend my 28th birthday with her. Emily got to help Gra make pink cupcakes for me. She helped hold the mixer and put the frosting and sprinkles on all by herself. She just loved it. Aiden played with the "elephant"...the grey hose to the vac. He makes the elephant noise while he plays, too. After we made it to town, we had to go straight to Allison Middle School(Justin attended school there) to see dad get an award from the USD 259 for volunteer work he had done. Taking 2 kids under 3 to a ceremony that is an hour and a half long is the dumbest thing ever. I would advise you not to do so. Aiden was great the first half hour cause he was tired and would lay down on me. Once he woke up, he would not sit still. Emily was sitting on Jamie Allison's lap(her sister is Paula, my sister-in-law) and that REALLY helped A LOT!! We had to get up and go to the back after Justin walked across the stage. There were about 100 people getting awards for teaching, volunteering, etc., which was why it took forever. Emily was looking all over for her dad while we were standing in the back, and shouted, "that's my daddy!" when she finally spotted him. Justin was clear at the front and heard her. Good grief. Needless to say, we ended up waiting in the truck for him to finish up for about the last 10 minutes of the program. Ugh. It was 7:30 p.m. at that point and we hadn't eaten. When we said bye to Justin and he shut the truck door, Aiden started crying.... he cried 3/4 of the way home! It was definitely the longest day ever. We came home, made pizza and then had cupcakes with dad (when he finally made it in at 8:30 p.m.). By the time I made it to bed, I was grateful for my birthday to be over! :)
