Surprise Zoo Day

We got the kids dressed for the day and surprised them with a trip to the zoo yesterday. Not only was the zoo a surprise, but we had special friends there, as well! My friend Jen and her kids came out, too. Well, Jen actually invited US out. Her son, Cole, turned 2 yesterday, so that was his birthday "party". Thankfully it was an 85 degree August day, so we didn't die from heat stroke! The kids had a lot of fun together. Here are highlights of the day...not really in order either. Sorry. We take a pic on this horse everytime we come out. The kids always run straight to it.
Aiden watching the turtles swim around.
YEE-HAW!!
Me and Jus on the "troll" bridge, as Emily calls it. Darn that Dora the Explorer.
Making sure they don't get lost.
The kids kept mobbing poor Jen for more fish food.
I'm sure you're wondering why I focused on the animals and didn't include any of the kids. Jen and I are in a book club and we just read a book that had flamingos in it. Actually someone pranked the groom in it and had flamingos delivered to the outdoor wedding ceremony. Humor. Har(a line from the book). This is for you, JEN! :)
Me with the birthday boy and Dood.
The boys trying to steal food...while the girls try to keep the baa-ram-ewe from escaping.
Ah, my favorite exhibit!

Emily and Cole watching the tiger!
On the dock.
Giving him a kiss.
He got to feed the sheep all by himself this year. He's getting so big!
I told them to spit like a camel.
When the tiger first jumped up on the platform the kids were this close to the glass...and quickly jumped back. Then they came back up to watch him.
